During the visit to Luxembourg, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, has met today the President of the Parilament Fernando Etgen and separately with the Chairman and members of the Board for Foreign, European Affairs, Migration and Asylum.


The Minister reminded that Serbia and Luxembourg cherished a long tradition of cooperation and that in the following year it would be 95 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
 

He stated that the relations of the two countries were characterized by understanding and diverse cooperation and estimated that by joint efforts we might raise the cooperation of Serbia and Luxembourg to an even higher level.


 

Selaković put a special emphasis on economic cooperation estimating that it was not on an adequate level and in compliance with potentials and expressed a strong interest of Serbia in its promotion and increase of the exchange of goods.
 

The Minister also said that it was necessary to promote the parliamentary cooperation and highlighted that, in this sense, the visit of the President of the Parliament Etgen to Serbia would be of great importance.
 

The Minister highlighted that full membership in the EU was a strategic goal of Serbia and especially indicated that the assistance of Luxembourg would be valuable in order to accelerate the accession process.
 

He informed his interlocutors on comprehensive reforms in Serbia and presented the results in the sphere of economy, which according to the minister, show the diligence of our country in the approach to all obligations ahead of us on the European path.

The Minister also spoke about the importance of regional cooperation for our country as well as strengthening of good relations with neighbors and introduced in this contexts members of Luxembourg Parliament to the goals of the “Open Balkans” initiative.
 

Moreover, he said that Serbia appreciated the efforts of the European Commission very much to encourage additionally the region as a whole within the Berlin Process and other leading regional initiatives at the Western Balkans to realize close cooperation, primarily in the fields of infrastructural connection, economic relations and youth cooperation.
