On March 24, Ambassador dr Marina Jovićević met with the President of Parliament of the Wallonia, Jean-Claude Marcourt.

During the meeting, both expressed the readiness to establish direct contacts between the institutions of Serbia and Wallonia, in order to improve the parliamentary, economic, university and cultural cooperation. Having in mind that a significant percentage of Serbian citizens have traditionally lived in the Walloon region, since the period between the two world wars, the importance of the Serbian community in this area has been pointed out. The readiness for better cooperation between the universities in Wallonia and the universities in Serbia was underlined. When it comes to the business sector, the importance of biotech industry, innovation, research, agriculture, food industry and stone processing has been highlighted. The activities of companies from Wallonia, which operate in Serbia, were discussed.

The treatment in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the vaccination process, were also considered. Ambassador Jovićević informed about the process of mass vaccination in Serbia, which is based on health, and not geopolitical ground, within which over two million people have been vaccinated so far. Support for Serbia's European path and the importance of continuing the European integration process in line with progress in meeting the set criteria were confirmed.
