Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selakovic met today with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Serbia Koenraad Adam.

Minister Selakovic assessed the bilateral relations between the two countries as good and pointed out that there was room for their further promotion.

The Serbian Foreign Minister announced that he would soon pay an official visit to Brussels.

Selakovic said that there was an interest to have a larger number of Belgian companies invest in Serbia, and added that an increase in the inflow of Belgian investments was expected as well as a significantly larger interest of Belgian investors for our country.

The Minister emphasized that membership of the European Union remained a strategic commitment of Serbia and one of its most important foreign policy goals, adding that our country had accepted the new methodology for accession negotiations with the EU, in hope that this would accelerate the entire process.

Discussing the dialogue with Pristina, the Head of Serbian diplomacy emphasized that Serbia was fully committed to the normalization of relations with Pristina and that to Belgrade this meant reaching a compromise solution that would be sustainable, practicable and acceptable to both sides.

Selakovic pointed out that Serbia was committed to the dialogue, but that it remained sceptical about the commitments made by the officials in Pristina, bearing in mind that it would soon be eight years since the signing of the Brussels Agreement and of their failure to form the Community of Serb Municipalities. In this regard, the Minister stressed that he expected greater activity of the EU towards Pristina when it comes to the implementation of the agreements reached.
