Ambassador dr Marina Jovićević met in Luxembourg with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs of the Luxembourg Parliament, MP Yves Cruchten.

The current situation regarding the fight against Covid-19 in both countries was discussed. Ambassador Jovićević informed Mr. Cruchten that Serbian authorities have invested huge efforts to keep the balanced approach, and to deal with the great challenges imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic in a responsible manner, primarily in the economic and epidemiological field. Ambassador Jovićević paid particular attention to the process of massive and rapid vaccination in Serbia.

Both ambassador Jovićević and chairman Cruchten welcomed the decision of Luxembourg airline Luxair to establish a regular direct line from Luxembourg to Belgrade twice a week from June 2021, and expressed the expectation that direct flights would connect the two peoples even better.

Luxembourg's support for Serbia's European integration was also discussed, as well as the intensification of bilateral relations in the previous period and awarding the highest decoration of the Republic of Serbia on Sash to the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, H.E. Mr. Xavier Bettel.

Both sides agreed on the need to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and expressed the expectation that after the pandemics is over it would be useful to organize the meeting of the members of the parliamentary Friendship Group with Luxembourg in the Serbian National Assembly and the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs of the Luxembourg Parliament, respectively.
