In the framework of celebration of the Statehood Day, February 15, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Kingdom of Belgium, in cooperation with the Department of Culture of the City of Brussels and the Order of friends of Maneken Pis, organized the ceremony of dressing the Maneken Pis statue in Serbian national costume. On behalf of the city of Brussels, the audience was greeted by Amand Jean-Marie, counselor in the cabinet of Mayor and in front of the Embassy, Chargée d'Affairs a. i. Irena BanovĨanin, who explained that on 15 February are celebrated the start of the First Serbian Uprising in Orašac, in 1804 and the adoption of the Sretenjski Constitution in 1835. She pointed out the significance of the first Serbian Constitution, as one of the most modern and most democratic constitutions of its time, which abolished feudalism in the then Principality Serbia. At the end of the ceremony the audience was served with cakes, pitas and brandy, symbols of Serbian hospitality.
