„The games are open“-said the Queen Mathilde of Belgium, after the spectacular opening ceremony of the Special Olympics in the EXPO Palais 12 in Brussels. At the opening ceremony, in adition to the participants, coaches, sports officials and many guests, also were present Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, President of the EC H.van Rompuy, Prime minister E.Di Rupo and J.Rogge former president of the International Olympic Committee.

The torch that was burned on 4. of September in Alexandroupolis in Greece, arrived on 9 September in Brussels, previously worn 450 km through Belgium. 2000 participants from 58 countries of Europe and Eurasi competing in 10 disciplines.

Member of the Serbian winning Olympic volleyball team Vanja Grbic, tennis legend Justine Henin and world supermodel and philanthropist Natalia Vodjanova, caried Olympic flag.

Serbian team has 47 partisipants, who are struggling in 6 games:football, basketball, athletics, table tennis, swimming and bawling.

Exquisite choreography conveyed a message of friendship and enjoyment of the game to people who have special needs.
